Cake Corner

Journal

Notes from the bench: how we plan flavours, tiers, and one-hour collection.

Fresh fruit finish

Freshness is the whole method

Sponge is mixed for the diary in front of us, not for a vague weekend. If you need a tall wedding cake, book earlier than a sprinkle cake from the express shelf. The promise on the door is the same either way: the cake should taste as considered as it looks.

Tiered cake ready to travel

Fifteen miles, then we stop

We deliver inside a 15 mile radius of 145 Ladypool Road. Beyond that, collection is kinder to buttercream. Summer fruit and tall tiers travel in the cool part of the afternoon, which is why some late slots disappear from the diary first.

Chocolate cake on the counter

Flavours we repeat on purpose

Red velvet, chocolate, and Victoria sponge cover most custom orders. Fillings change with the season: berry compote when the market is good, pistachio cream when the viral fruit box is on the counter at £6 a piece.
